Kate and Nicolas met in an introductory music theory course at their alma mater, Concordia College. But, they didn't get to know each other until several months later. After a summer apart, Nicolas asked Kate out and they later became engaged in October of 2016. Now they live in Manhattan, KS where Kate teaches elementary music in Riley County and Nicolas is pursuing his Ph.D. in Mathematics at Kansas State University.
